Chenghai Exhibition for Toys To Open

The 10th China Chenghai International Exposition for Toys and Gifts is going to open at Chenghai Exhibition Centre on April 21 and last for 4 days, the Shantou Evening Post reports. Meanwhile, Chenghai, the China Toys and Gifts Center, will be setting up an Exhibition and Trade Center for Toys and Gifts all the year round, which will make it an “immortal” exposition.

The toy expo is sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Shantou Municipal Government, and undertaken by Chenghai District Government, CCPIT Shantou Branch, Chenghai Toys Association and Chenghai Arts and Crafts Association. 80% of the investment attracting plan had been fulfilled by the end of March. Nan’ao Island Attracts Investors

Nan’ao Island, an island off the coast of Shantou, is attracting more and more investment.

An investigation commission, led by the vice-chairman of the Subcommittee for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, Hu Yingxiang, paid a visit to Shantou on Mar. 19. Hu said he want to promote the development experiment of wind recyclable energy in Nan’ao.   Recently, Shenzhen Yingtaisen Investment Co. Ltd sets has put in 350 million to start a project constructing tourist support facilities, developing real estate, and building a business center. An agreement was signed with the local government on Mar. 13.

Fixed Phone Numbers Up to Eight Digits

Telephone numbers in Shantou are getting bumped up to eight digits, as numbers of Chinese telephone users grow.   

According to the Ministry of Information Industry, the local telephone network in  Shantou will go up to eight digits from the date of May, 18th. 2008.  All the the local telephone network in Shantou, including fixed phone and local mobile, will be changed into eight numbers, while the short number of the special telephone service will be the same as before. These days, the related departments have started to prepare for the program in due form, according to Shantou Special Zone Evening News. Read more…

Overseas Chinese of local origin are seeking to develop business opportunities in Shantou.

From March 15 to 16, the delegation of Hong Kong Overseas Chaozhounese Plastics Manufacturers Association visited Shantou to investigate the investment environment, in the hope of establishing a closer relationship of business and trade with the city. Read more…
