SUPPORT NEEDED
To ensure that news.myshantou.net remains updated even after the batch of students now working on it graduate, we have a policy to continuously induct new students to be members of the team. The idea is to ensure that there is always someone on campus to carry on with the work. We need the following volunteers immediately:
1. Web technicians (several)
2. Art Editors(several)
2. Translators (Chinese to English) for News in Brief (several)
3. Photographers (several)
4. Video cameramen(several)
5. Correspondents (several).
THE EDITORS OF NEWS.MYSHANTOU.NET HAVE DECIDED TO COVER THE FOLLOWING TOPICS IN THE COMING MONTHS.
ISSUE 1: STORIES OF PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT OCCUPATIONS IN SHANTOU (publication date: November 20, 2008)
Tell the world about the people doing different jobs in Shantou. Their lives, their stories! It would be the story of a middle-school teacher who saw more satisfaction in changing jobs to that of female tricycle puller who is feeding a family of five back in her hometown. Then there is the lighthouse attendant. What does he/she do? What is life alone at the lighthouse like? Again, there could be stories that we do not know about the fruit-sellers around the campus or people who make a living by helping other people ‘design’ their signatures. Then of course there are the rich and the famous, what do they do? How do they live? How did they get there?
ISSUE 2 : SEARCHING FOR LAOWAI MADE IN SHANTOU! (publication date: December 20, 2008)
Are there any interesting foreigners living in Shantou? Do they have some interesting stories? What’s their impression of Shantou? What makes a Laowai become a Laonei (who get used to life here)? In December’s issue, we will focus on foreigners in Shantou. We need some correspondents, photographers, Video cameramen for this issue.
ISSUE 3:CHANGING AND UNCHANGING (publication date: January 20, 2008)
ISSUE that is out of plan but under consideration:THE SOUL OF SHANTOU
